In August of 1969, Charity Ann Large was born prematurely and given little hope of a normal life, if she even survived. But the Lord knew the plans He had chosen for her. Several years later, this little girl was led to the Lord by her mother, who has never ceased having a godly influence upon her life.
While growing up, Charity loved school and enjoyed spending time outdoors, reading, sewing, baking and playing the flute and piano. She studied at Bob Jones University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education.
Following her graduation, she began teaching in Wisconsin. During this time, the Lord allowed a series of trials to occur in her life, including some health problems that eventually made it impossible for her to play the flute or piano without extreme pain. He desired to teach her about His more than sufficient grace (II Corinthians 12:9) and to remind her that everything she had was a gift from her sovreign God, whom she could fully trust to lovingly give or take according to His good pleasure.
Later, with the love and encouragement of a caring faculty, Charity was able to earn a Master's Degree in Flute Performance from Bob Jones, while still struggling with pain. But more importantly, the Lord used these years to help her more fully grasp that He loved and delighted in her (Psalm 18) because of who He is and not for anything she could be or do.
Charity remained at Bob Jones for the following two years to teach flute. In 1997, she married Wayne Cooper, and in January 1999, Wayne assumed the pastorate of Lowman Baptist Church, nestled among the hills of West Virginia. Now Charity enjoys being a homemaker and serving alongside her husband by helping with the music ministry and teaching children's classes.
Reflecting upon her life thus far, Charity rejoices and marvels at God's unsearchable, matchless ways and rests in complete assurance that truly everything is From His Gracious Hand.
